In the coming days, gusts of wind between 50 and 70 kilometers per hour are expected. In Neuquén, a van transporting workers from the Ministry of Security overturned, leaving the driver in serious condition. The accident occurred when four government employees were heading to fight a fire in the Lanín National Park, overturning on a curve of Provincial Route 23, about 30 kilometers from Junín de los Andes.
Two occupants were injured and the driver was taken to intensive care for a brain injury. The 44-year-old driver lost control of the vehicle on a sharp curve. The workers were headed to the Cuesta del Rahue area, where they assist in efforts to combat the forest fire that began at the end of January and has already consumed more than 22 thousand hectares.
The teams fighting the fire include the Lanín National Park, the Provincial and National Fire Management System, as well as volunteer firefighters from different provinces. In the region, the wind is one of the most challenging climatic factors, further complicating the firefighting efforts.
**Quote:** "It has been a very regrettable and concerning accident. We hope the driver recovers soon and that we can continue to fight the fire with all our effort," commented a representative from the Emergency and Risk Management Secretariat.
